Mobile Testing Units
Mobile Testing Units (MTUs) are now available to Illinois motorists in the Chicago area. MTUs are specially equipped emissions testing vans that can be deployed to select locations to provide vehicle emissions testing for the convenience of motorists. We currently have two MTUs that are deployed to multiple locations. Click on the link below to view the MTU calendar. The calendar provides the MTU testing schedule (dates/times) and testing locations with maps and directions. The MTU’s function like a small, one-lane station, providing test services from a specially equipped van. You can get all emissions test services at MTUs with the exception of damage claim inspections (which must be done at a centralized station).
You have the option to take a short survey at the end of the test to provide us feedback on your MTU testing experience.

Bring Mobile Testing Units to Your Community
The Illinois Air Team would like to offer all communities in the Chicagoland and Metro-East St. Louis program areas the opportunity to host an MTU event. For more information about hosting an MTU event in your community, please review our attached flyer here which lists the parking lot characteristics we are looking for.
